Day 263_2017 (Autumn)

Well that’s it, summer over for another year.

And the kids back at school (till October half term). Normal service is restored

So this is our second autumn of programming on AJK and I thought a few programming tweeks would be good over the coming weeks as we countdown to Christmas 2017!!

September 9th was my first sighting of a mince pie (didn’t get a chance to look at the expiry date, bet it was before 25/12…..

This obsession with shops starting earlier it seems each year takes the shine off of the whole Christmas Experience.

Having said that, as a radio station we have a certain amount of planning ahead, but you have the core Christmas classics which don’t really change and it’s more a top up of newer artists putting their spin on the Christmas Turkey tunes.

As the year races on into the distance, the planning for what we want to acheive in 2018 is brought into focus, bit like a new year resolution list…bit early for that though.

As always thanks for listening, and supporting the station.

Day 237_2017 End of Summer

Time waits for no-one and a lot has happened since I last put digital pen to virtual paper.

The studio was out of action for 10 days, a long time in radio due to a Hard Drive failure, this brought home the problems of running a station from home with no reserve for “failsafe or emergency” replacement. it was made more difficult with the failure of the switching unit from studio to the .www meaning total replacement costs of £140 😦

your pennies can be donated here to help keep us running

The wonder that is remote voice tracking of a radio show continues to prove a big hit with our regular presenters, Trevor,Paul and Sarah. Could you be our next?

From the comfort of your own home with an outlay of £150 for the kit you have thje radio and the www. at your disposal, after that running costs for a remote presenter is £1 per week, for as many show you can create *(subject to airtime availability).

The goals for the station currently is funding for the station to stay online and to support its DAB application. this will give AJK a local reach to Beds, Bucks and Herts in the UK. again if you can help with costs, click the link above.

With 27 days left of summer, we count down to our Autumn programming, as the nights draw in in and it gets colder and darker of the evenings, AJK Radio aims to be your listening choice.

From the start of the charts way back in 1952 to the chart of today. AJK has it covered, with specialist shows ‘peppered’ throughout’ the schedule.

Day 156_2017 “Hello, can you hear me…”

Been a while since the last blog, so here’s the latest.

Paul , has settled into his new radio show nicely (Wednesdays from 7pm)

We’ve more radio voices on the way too, from local, to Australia , New Zeeland and Japan! AJK Radio really is locally worldwide.

Our fund raising push has got off the ground http://www.gofundme.com/ajkradioautism

This is our, part to bring more Autistic talent to the airwaves, by taking the tech to them. Please do dig down the back of the sofa and donate the loose change. Thank You.

The title of the blog, is linked to everything else I’ve just mentioned. Both Trevor and myself have been shouting “Hello, can you hear me, and testing ,testing one two three” quite a bit over the last few weeks as we evaluate LUCI Studio & LUCI Live – they have the possibilities to do what we need but it’s not free.

AS I write this LEEE John and Imagination launch their new album “Retropia” this Friday. AJK Radio has had exclusive play of the album with the back catalogue on the hour, every hour for several weeks and will continue to promote the album even after launch.

Every UK donation will get a free entry into a prize draw for a VIP Meet & Greet with LEEE at the Jazz Café London 28th July 2017. For those who can’t get there and are selected a Amazon Echo will be offered as an alternative prize. So get donating to enter.

Music it seems is the one calming and neutral ground that continues to bring people together, stirring memories and becoming etched into the soundtrack to our lives.

WE hit 1000 followers on Twitter recently , thank you to all who continue to be a part of the AJK Radio journey 17 months old and learning new tricks and tips, every day.

Turned out it’s been busier than I thought….

Thanks, as always for listening.

Day 126_2017 “Retropia” pre launch

Another week draws to a close, and a busy, and at sometimes frustrating one for AJK Radio.

I.T issues continued to plague the studio this week, so much so I went back to using Windows 7

My voice tracking presenters have had to suffer too, with RVT (remote voice tracking) being unavailable during the down time.

One a more positive note….

Leee John has recorded some voice overs for the station, and we’ve EXCLUSIVE pre launch play of the NEW album ‘Retropia”

To top all that, last wednesday I chatted to Leee for 45 minutes about music and the new album… as my first music interview, it didn’t have a dull fixed format of questions Leee has heard 1000 times before. in fact I came away as if I’d just caught up with an old friend.

Please do pre order the album, It is proper music, an album you will want to listen to time and time again.

For exclusive tracks from the album Leee is our “Artist on the Hour” throughout May, and the back catalougue of Leee’s work with Imagination is also showcased.

As always , thanks for listening, following and sharing

Day 119_2017 Not an Illusion

Been a busy few weeks since I last blogged.

I.T issues due to the station being online 24/7 that means the computers running the station have been giving me sleepless nights.

The Studio PC in particular haas been giving me problems of late however….

for the geeks amoung us, Broadcast Radio are working on V5 of their Myriad Playout software, we went live with a preview on the studio machine last week to overcome issues of V4 just conking out on us mid broadcast (compter related, not the software)

On a side not we have v4 working on a MAC!! via Parallels, and it’s more reliable than it’s windows counterpart (go figure)

Our latest presenter Paul Beavis goes from strength to strength with his show Weds 7-9pm (GMT)

The BIGGEST news is (drumroll please)

Leee John of Imagination has asked AJK Radio to promote his new album “Retropia” out on June 9th 2017

Listen out as Leee is our Artist on the Hour, EVERY hour for May, and you might just hear a track or two from the new album

Head over to our website to pre order the album

Day 86_2017 WAAW Day 2

Day 2 of World Autism Awareness Week

What is Autism

Click the link for the you tube video

Been a busy day, connecting with lots of autistic supporters and those living with autism via social media.

One think ive discovered is that we as human beings are inquisitive, curious and have a quest for knowledge.

But put up a topic that we don’t understand or know little about, we become uncomfortable and like the ostrych we bury our head in the sand.

So if you do one thing this week, head over to http://www.ajkradio.moonfruit.com , click the autism tab and watch the videos, for a rough guide to autism.

Want to be awesome this week?
